Turning My Depression Stage Into Hopefulness Moment
Cross stitch is a tedious craft. It involves sewing and is a popular form of counted-thread embroidery, where X-shaped stitches in a tiled, raster-like pattern are used to create a picture. I need to count the threads on a piece of even weave fabric, such as linen, in each direction so that the stitches are uniform in size and appearance, forming a perfect image.
I've created four designs of the Rose of Sharon cross stitch, depicting a girl wearing a red dress with a rose in an arc design. One of the designs, already framed, was purchased for 8 thousand pesos.
During my depression, I used to cry every day. To divert my sadness, I turned to cross-stitching. Seeing my finished output brings me joy, and I'm proud to share that I turned my depression into a moment of hopefulness.
Just like the "Footprints in the Sand" cross stitch I made, it symbolizes my life. The lesson of the poem is that, during the darkest moments of our lives, God is always beside us, carrying us. We entrust everything to God, and He carries our burdens. We always feel loved by God, and He is the only one who will never forsake or hurt us.
The poem “Footprints in The Sand” is an affirmational prayer that shows how God is always with us, especially in times of need. In Deuteronomy 1:30-31, it says: 'The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the wilderness.'
Footprints In The Sand
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testing.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
